New Restaurants on Burnet Road Near Allandale: Fall 2026

Stinson's served coffee, breakfast and lunch at the corner of 45th Street and Burnet Road until it closed in April 2025. On June 14, 2026, La La Land Cafe opened a soft launch in the same spot, at 4416 Burnet Road. It serves banana cloud lattes and truffle burrata toast. It is the chain's second Austin cafe, Community Impact reported.

That corner sums up how Burnet Road has changed near Allandale this year. Almost no new buildings went up. Food spaces that were already there got new tenants, and many of those tenants are businesses on their second life: a restaurant moved here from California, a Thai kitchen that started in a ghost kitchen got its own dining room, and a founder bought back the company she started. Meanwhile, a few places that had been around for more than ten years closed.

Four blocks, old spaces, new names

West Austin News called the Rosedale stretch of Burnet Road from 45th to 49th Street "hopping with food places these days" in its September roundup. Most of that activity is in spaces that already held a restaurant or shop.

Rosedale Village had the most turnover in one spot. Pressed Juicery closed its only Austin-area store there in early July. The company said more customers now buy its products through grocery stores, delivery and mobile ordering, and the brand is still sold at Sprouts, Costco and Target. Ben & Jerry's is moving into that space. It will be the brand's first Austin-area location, and a company representative gave a target of mid-November to mid-December, according to Community Impact's August business roundup. That window is a target, not a set date. Ben & Jerry's own listing for the location still says "Coming Soon."

Second acts along the stretch

The people behind the new places are what make this year different. Each of these three is on its second version: one was rebuilt at the same address, one moved here from California, and one left a ghost kitchen.

Picnik at 4801 Burnet Road. Naomi Seifter started Picnik in 2013 as a 150-square-foot food trailer. She opened the first sit-down restaurant three years later and brought in outside management in 2019. She spent about two years working to buy the business back, and her first day as owner and operator again was Dec. 1, Community Impact reported. She closed the restaurant on July 27 to rework it, and it reopened Aug. 24 with a very different setup. Picnik now serves one farm-to-table meal a day, with a new dish each day. The base of every main plate leaves out gluten, seed oils, refined sugar and peanuts. Vegan and vegetarian versions are available if you ask. Drinks are wine, canned drinks and bone broth. When it reopened, service ran from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. for lunch and dinner. During the soft opening, the team said online that "we are literally building the car as we are driving it," Community Impact noted. Since the format is still new, call or check Picnik's social pages for current hours before you go.

Cinque Terre West ATX at 4800 Burnet Road, Ste. 450. Gianbattista "Gianba" and Marlo Vinzoni first opened Cinque Terre West in Pacific Palisades in 2019. From there the restaurant moved to a ghost kitchen and then to Venice, California. After a year in Venice, the couple moved it to Austin. They also co-own Ciccio Bomba, which has locations downtown and on South Lamar. "This is our new community," Marlo Vinzoni told Community Impact. The restaurant is open five nights a week. Pasta is made in house every day, and the menu leans toward seafood, with ahi tuna crudo, branzino, and spaghetti vongole with Manila clams and bottarga. It also has a full bar and wine list, and its dishes use the same focaccia baked fresh at Ciccio Bomba.

Yummy Mommy Thai Cuisine at 4707 Burnet Road. This Thai restaurant opened in ATX Kitchens, a ghost kitchen on East Anderson Lane, on Aug. 31, 2025. It closed there about six months later and said it would take a short break. In August it announced it would reopen on Burnet Road in September. As of the West Austin News September roundup, a "coming soon" sign still hung over the front of the old Pit BBQ building. We could not confirm an opening date. The menu it announced includes coconut curry, tom yum soup, drunken noodles, crab rangoon, Thai iced tea and mango sticky rice.

La La Land fits the same pattern in its own way. It is a Texas chain with 14 Dallas shops, four in Houston and one in San Antonio, and it took over the space left by a local coffee shop. Its next Austin location is planned for The Domain.

What left, and the reasons given

The closures came from the other end of the age scale. These were places that had been on Burnet for a long time.

  • Chi'Lantro, 5222 Burnet Road. Closed April 30. It opened in 2015 as the brand's second brick-and-mortar location. Founder Jae Kim told Community Impact that the team couldn't find a long-term plan that worked, and that rent was set to rise more than 30% at renewal. About 20 employees moved to other Chi'Lantro locations. The kimchi fries and bowls are still available at the brand's other Burnet Road restaurant, at 11005 Burnet Road, Ste. 108.
  • Yard Bar, 6700 Burnet Road. This dog park and bar closed May 30. It had run on 20,000 square feet of land for more than ten years, Community Impact noted.
  • Pressed Juicery, Rosedale Village. Closed in July. As covered above, the company pointed to changes in how customers shop, and Ben & Jerry's is taking the space.

Only one of these closures came with a dollar figure attached, and it was rent. It fits with the rest of the year: the newcomers moved into existing spaces, and a business that had been in its space for 11 years gave one up.

Up the road, past Anderson Lane

Two openings north of the Rosedale stretch are worth a short drive.

Sweet Charli Girl, 7413 Burnet Road. Rachel Metts opened this bakery on June 27. Everything is gluten-free and celiac safe, and there are vegan and dairy-free options. The case holds cupcakes, cheesecakes, peanut butter bars and yeast-raised fried donuts. Coffee is made with beans from Medici Roasting and house-made syrups like orange creamsicle and toasted coconut. Hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends. It is closed Mondays.

Urban Egg, 7600 Burnet Road, Ste. 250. This is the brunch chain's first Austin location, Community Impact reported. The menu includes omelets, pancakes, breakfast burritos, burgers and cocktails. Urban Egg's own page lists a grand opening celebration from Oct. 12 to 14, which starts today. The page invites guests to get in line at 7 a.m., and the first 20 tables each day get free coffee for a year. There is also a drawing for a weekly pancake flight for a year, and anyone who dances in the door gets a free pancake with an entree. That schedule comes from the company. We have not seen independent confirmation that service started on time.

What's still on the way before year's end

  • Through Oct. 14: Urban Egg's grand opening at 7600 Burnet Road, with the company inviting guests to line up at 7 a.m.
  • Date not confirmed: Yummy Mommy Thai Cuisine at 4707 Burnet Road. It was originally planned for September.
  • Mid-November to mid-December target: Ben & Jerry's in the old Pressed Juicery space at Rosedale Village.

If you want a nearby option beyond Burnet, Local Foods opened its second Austin location in August at 3800 N. Lamar Blvd., Suite 170. It has plenty of vegetarian and vegan dishes, garage parking and a full bar, and it is open daily from 10:45 a.m. to 9 p.m., per West Austin News.
